National Nutrition Month!
March is National Nutrition Month! Created annually by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the campaign focuses on the importance of healthy eating choices, and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. The theme for this year is “Savor the Flavor of Eating Right”.
It all starts with what you eat. Eating right doesn’t have to be hard. All you need to do is to start shifting your food and beverage choices to healthier ones. Here are some recommendations to help you start:
- Include lean meats, beans, eggs and nuts
- Choose food that is low in saturated fats, trans fats, salt and added sugar
- Emphasize vegetables, fruit, whole grains and low-fat or fat free milk products
- Don’t forget to drink water
